Business Administration Field Trip 2026 “BISNIS (Business Insight & Strategic Networking in Industry Systems)”

The Business Administration Student Association (HMPS) of Diponegoro University (Undip), through the Department of Economics and Business, successfully organized the 2026 Field Trip, which took place over three days on May 4, 6, and 7, 2026. This activity was attended by Business Administration students from the class of 2025 who are currently enrolled in the Operations Management course, to provide firsthand experience regarding operational processes in the industrial world. The field trip was conducted at two companies: PT Marimas Putera Kencana and PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk, both located in Semarang, Central Java. The activities were divided across three different days due to limitations on the number of visitors permitted by the respective companies.

On the first day, the activity was attended by 91 students from classes AB-4, AB-3, and AB-IUP, accompanied by the committee and supervisors from the Business Administration Student Association. The event began at 6:00 AM WIB, with the assembly point located at the front yard of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Undip. After checking attendance and ensuring all participants were accounted for, the committee provided briefings regarding the code of conduct and bus assignments before departure.

The Chairperson of the 2026 Field Trip, Farhan Athourrohman Al Aziz, delivered opening remarks and led a prayer before the group departed for the first location, PT Marimas Putera Kencana. Upon arrival, participants were welcomed by the company’s public relations team and attended a company profile presentation covering the firm’s history, development, and production processes. Subsequently, participants received a briefing on safety regulations before entering the production area. Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), students took part in a factory tour to observe the production process of powdered drinks firsthand. Furthermore, participants were involved in sensory testing and new product trials, where they were asked to provide evaluations on taste, aroma, and packaging design.

The activities at PT Marimas then continued with a discussion and Q&A session, product distribution, and an opportunity for participants to shop. Afterward, the group proceeded to PT Sido Muncul Tbk, with a scheduled break for rest, prayer, and lunch (ISHOMA) beforehand. At PT Sido Muncul, participants took part in a series of activities, including opening remarks, a factory tour, and an explanation regarding the herbal medicine (jamu) and pharmaceutical production processes. Participants were also invited to visit several facilities, such as the laboratories, warehouses, and the agrotourism area. The event concluded with a Q&A session, the sharing of impressions and feedback, and a group photo session before the group returned to Undip.

On the second and third days, the activities followed a similar itinerary. The primary differences lie in the number of participants and the representatives delivering the opening remarks. The second day was attended by 93 students, while the third day saw 89 participants. Additionally, the third day included a special session for the presentation of a plaque to PT Sido Muncul as a token of appreciation.

Overall, the 2026 Field Trip aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of how operations management theories are applied within the industrial sector. Through this program, students gained more than just new insights; they acquired firsthand experience observing production processes and corporate management in real-time. With the successful implementation of this event, it is hoped that Undip Business Administration students will be better prepared for the professional world and capable of applying their academic knowledge to real-world industrial practices.
